A Time to Learn and Play
Mornings with Mommy isn't childcare or preschool, it's something different! Mornings with Mommy is a way for moms and other caretakers of young children to connect with their children and other families through structured and free play.
Children are a gift from the Lord, but they are also a tremendous responsibility. We understand that parents have to work, but we also understand that parents want to spend time with their children. As a congregation, we have many members who are both parents and professional educators and librarians. We have a passion for helping parents interact with their children in meaningful and fun ways.
We also know that in a world which people are more lonely than ever, it is encouraging to spend time with and meet other parents. We want to use Mornings with Mommy as a way to help strengthen the bond between parent and child, teach through play, and help encourage parents in the difficult and often thankless task of raising children.
The Details
When is it?
We meet from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on the third Saturday of the month. See the top of the page for the next date and its unique theme!
Who may attend?
Any caretaker (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc) is welcome to bring any children 4 and under. Multiple children in one family in that age range are all welcome. This is not a daycare program, so the caretaker stays with the child the whole morning.
Where is it?
The event will be held at Glory to God Lutheran Church in Tinley Park. We will have signs and people directing your path once you arrive at our building to help you get to the fun!
What kinds of things will we be doing?
We will have story time and song time together. Then, children are invited to free play at any of 6 stations which include: the Infant Area, Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor Skills, Sensory Area, Paper Wall Mural, and Arts and Crafts.
What is the format?
Circle time starts at 10 am, followed by free play with 6 stations which vary every month and we conclude at 11 am with a simple snack. Each month has a new theme with new activities so there is always something new!
Is there a cost?
We do not charge anything for this event, but if you would like to make a small donation to help pay for the next event, we would truly appreciate it.
